Beginnings

undefined

last night i stood at the edge of the ocean

ring around the moon
wet feet with socks on
to guard
against the sharp shells scattered on the beach
since the storms reclaimed our fragile sands
and laughed
and laughed
and laughed
laughed to the nothing
laughed at the silly things we say
laughed at my personal matters
that extend but 5 feet off the ground
fell to the sand
with grunge
and sand
and salt
smearing clothes and hair
no care
it all washes away in the end
no lights except the intrusive
florescent signs and traffic
impaling the surface of the mer
glaring reminders of our own intrusion
for one brief moment i wondered
if i were a bomb
i would vanquish all and
return the small
to the all
but
no way could i interrupt the cooing of
some passing lovers gazing
out toward the real darkness
....she rides her hand over his shoulders
he turns and places a kiss on her eyes
now i can’t laugh any longer
i walk to the ocean's edge and contribute
my share of salt tears
to the current
in this
i return to her
